Best Pinks Around Under $50

7 February 2012

Tis the season to be red and pink all over.  We’ll leave the reds for another day.  Today is all about PINK.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLRLhV9U0kQ]

From Estee Lauder, Elizabeth Hurley’s Pink Ribbon Collection, $24.00.  Proceeds go to help raise awareness about early detection.

From DVF, Love is Life iPhone case, $28.

PJK Blue Label – Charlie Button-Front Shirt, $38.99 (in red, but looks like PINK).

For girls that love to show their stripes: Ella Moss Liberty Stripe Cowl-Neck Top, $34.00.

Enamel Button Cardigan from GAP, $19.99.

From Banana Republic, Line Stone Shimmy Bracelet, $35.99.

J Crew Cotton Vintage T-shirt, $30.

Origami One Shoulder Dress, $32.

Dr. Bronners Soap Bar Rose, 1 British Pound.

Ettika Friendship Bracelet, $40

Rebecca Minkoff Companion Keychain, $29.

Diane von Furstenberg glasses, $23.

Gap Colorblock Tote, $44.95

Qupid Pink Patent Ballet Flats, $24.

Whew! That was a lot of pink from my fave places to shop…all under $50.  I’m loving the Qupid ballet flats…just wish they had them in my size.  I may spring for the soap and the DVF glasses (love the color).

Want to know what I definitely ordered?  Ooh la la…Diva Pumps!

Diva Lounge Lorane Platform Pumps, $29.

They may be nude, but they look a little on the pinkish nude side…but I LOVE THESE!

Take a look around at these sites, especially Warehouse and Lulu’s. Lots of stuff in pink (and other colors, of course) all for a great price.

Pretty Sparkly Things & More

6 February 2012

You know those member sites where if you’re a member you have to click “Skip This Month” in order to save some dough…and then you end up looking on their site and deciding…well, I’ll just buy this one thing?  Well, that was me on Friday.

There’s something about being sick and shopping that goes hand and hand.  It makes you feel good for some strange reason.

1. At JewelMint.com, I ended up ordering not one, but two things…

Feeling like you need a little bit of luck? Well, that’s where the lady luck rings come in handy.  Better yet, how about lucky in love?  That’s where the Lovers Only Necklace comes in.  With a special code for $9 off + free shipping, I got these 4 pieces (rings come in 3s) for only $50 after tax.  That’s about $12.50 per piece.

2. Not to be outdone in the jewelry department, Bauble Bar was also on my radar (as always)…I was looking for the Buried Bauble, but got kicked off because they had some pretty heavy traffic that day.  After I couldn’t score what I really wanted, I ended up finding a sister necklace to last Friday’s Buried Bauble.

The Glam Neige Collar, $38

Along with the collar, I picked up a free bauble (for those who collect credits and are loyal customers).

Glam Bead Necklace, FREE

3.  Who could forget the PURSE?  Damn ShoeDazzle.com for having such cute bags!  I settled for this one (because I don’t have a lavendar bag in my collection):

Kula Purple Handbag, $39.95

4.  Since we’re still talking accessories…who could forget the true sparkle?  The gold glitter shoes!

Just Fabulous is having their Birthday Sale…2 for $39.95.  They even threw in a 1 year subscription to Maxim magazine for FREE when I checked out.  Every girl needs a pair of gold glitter ballet flats (or several pairs, because I run through flats like crazy) and a pair of gold glitter heels…they go with just about everything.  What I also like is that instead of wearing brown flats to go with navy or brown clothes…gold shoes go so much better.

5.  And not to be outdone by the adult purchases, the 3 year old ME decided that since I was sick…I wanted something too.  Insert DISNEY STORE.

Disney is having their BUY ONE PLUSH, GET 2ND ONE FREE.  So the sick 3 year old inner child got herself an Eeyore for $16.50 and Stitch for FREE.  And yes, I was carrying them around like they were a security blanket.

For some strange reason, those kiddie purchases brought a smile to my face.  I thought…if this could make me smile, imagine bringing Disney plush toys to a children’s ward and what it would do for those kids with cancer.  When I’m feeling better, I’m going to stop by the Disney Store again and pick up some more Disney toys to drop off at a Children’s Hospital.  If that can make me happy when I’m sick…imagine how happy it would make kids in a hospital.

KARL is Here!

25 January 2012

Fashionistas, grab your credit cards because Karl (by Karl Lagerfeld) has finally hit Net-a-Porter.  Why should you be excited?  Well, Karl is the more recessionista friendly version of his couture labels.

I was going to go to the Pop Up Shop this morning, but with a big trip to Canada tomorrow and lots of work to do before I leave, there was no chance.  So that leaves shopping online.

Here are a few ‘on my radar’ buys:

Pictured: Jerry Distressed Cotton-Terry Sweater, $175; Cutaway Leather Gloves, $65; Sachi pleated faux leather skirt, $160; Leather Wedge Sandals, $445; Printed Faux Leather Collar, $120.

And of course…the SHOES!  Love these…

Pictured: Two-toned Leather Sandals, $335.

I’m very excited and happy to see a more affordable line from Karl Lagerfeld.  What are your favorites from the Karl collection?

It All Started With a Peacock

18 December 201121 October 2016

People that know me know how obsessed I am with Bauble Bar.  I wear their jewelry all of the time.  I pass out their business cards every single time someone stops me to tell me how much they love my jewelry.

Back around the time I was shopping for what to wear to the NHL Awards, I came across Bauble Bar.  I took one look at their peacock cuff and knew it had to be mine.  That is what started it all…

peacock1 peacock2 peacock3 peacock4

{Purse: Rebecca Minkoff MAB (similar here); green exotic sheer top (New York & Company Collection); tuxedo pants (similar here); Navy Blue Sweater (similar here); rings (Tiffany & Co. and here)

Gorgeous little piece, right?  What’s just as gorgeous was the Bauble Bar price…$32.

Thanks to Bauble Bar, I was able to build up my jewelry wardrobe with amazingly beautiful pieces.

Thanks to word of mouth, Bauble Bar has gone viral.  For a company that just went live back in April, they are now worn to red carpet events, donned by celebrities from J Lo to Justin Bieber, and featured in fashion magazines every single month.

Would you believe that I was one of Bauble Bar’s first customers?  Since that peacock cuff, I’ve referred so many people to them thanks to a post I did on them way back when.  I wore the peacock cuff on the red carpet at the NHL Awards.  Now, I wear their pieces every single day.

POP UP SHOP

For the holidays, Bauble Bar launched a pop-up shop at 144 10th Avenue in New York City, which they share with BirchBox, Artspace, Joor and Quirky.

Last Wednesday, they launched their shop, and of course, I had to be there because I love this little company so much!

I picked up a new cuff that was very similar to my first peacock cuff.  {That’s currently under the Christmas tree right now.}

I also became a subscriber of Birch Box last week.  They send you deluxe sample products every month to try out.  If you like it, you can go back to their site to purchase the product.  They work on a loyalty program just like Bauble Bar does.  In other words, you are rewarded for ordering and referring business to them.  This is a customer based service that I’m a huge fan of.  Credits to shop?  Credits to refer friends?  Hey, that’s how I have so many baubles these days. 🙂

One of the exciting DIY features I picked up and loved at the event came from their alcohol infused candy bar.  What is that?  Try alcohol infused gummy worms and gummy bears…as well as other alcohol infused candies.  I thought this was such a cool thing, I asked around for recipes, because this would make the perfect gift for my brother for Christmas…well, at least the part where we eat alcohol infused gummies all weekend…he’ll have a recipe to take home in his stocking!

Here’s the recipe!  It’s very easy to make, but it takes several days to get it going.  That means I need to buy the gummies and vodka now, in order for it to be ready for when my guest arrives!

So kids, make sure to buy more baubles…and sign up for your BirchBox.  I can’t wait to get mine!

Alexander McQueen

11 February 2010

As I’m gearing up not just for the Olympics, but for Fashion Week in New York City, some sad news came across the wire this morning.

Legendary fashion designer Alexander McQueen committed suicide.

This news is hitting all of us the day before NYC Fashion Week begins.

McQueen is one of the most brilliant fashion designers of our age. His death is a serious loss to those who love fashion.

His death hits me harder than any celebrity death in recent years. Why? Because his art meant something to me.

Walking past the Saks Fifth Avenue windows and standing in awe at an Alexander McQueen masterpiece is what takes your breath away…again and again and again.

His work moves you to feeling not only beautiful, but it pleases your eyes and your soul. His work was timeless and magnificent.

Now, we say goodbye to Alexander McQueen. The fashion world has lost not only an artist, but a genius.
